Connect Group for Grandparents, Extended Family & Friends

Supporting a child with cancer can be an overwhelming experience, and it’s completely normal to feel concerned for both your loved ones and the child. A strong support network for a child diagnosed with cancer is important, but everyone connected to a diagnosed child is affected, and those involved might feel uncertain about how to best assist during this challenging time. For grandparents, extended family, and friends, these challenges can feel especially personal, but remember, you don’t have to face them alone.

This Connect Group is an informal online catch-up where grandparents, extended family members, and friends can meet and talk to others who are supporting a child with cancer.

With two Redkite Social Workers there to guide the discussion, you will be able to safely share your experience, discuss challenges and learn strategies that others have found useful.

We welcome all grandparents, extended family members, and friends. We encourage new attendees to join and you’re welcome to share as much or as little as you like.

This group is for you if:

  • You are a grandparent, extended family member, or close friend of a child aged 0-18 who has a cancer diagnosis
  • You want to learn strategies of how to best support the diagnosed child and their family, whilst also looking after yourself in the process
  • The child is currently on treatment or has finished treatment within the last 12 months
  • You want to meet and talk with others who are facing similar challenges and experiences

To attend this group, RSVP on the myRedkite portal using the links below or contact us.
